May 2014 Newsletter
Hello Fellow Club Chefs,
I would like to thank Executive Chef Victor Zarate and his culinary team for a terrific meal on Tuesday evening. Our thanks also to Conor Horrigan and Ben Hoeft from Half Full Brewery for their participation in our education for the evening. We learned a lot about the brewing process and tasted several fantastic beers which were paired perfectly with Victor’s food.
During the meeting we discussed several items which included a brief presentation from John Krall proposing our Education Trip 2015 going to Ireland and England and our June dinner possibly being hosted by The Inn at Pound Ridge. Stay tuned for further updates!!
We discussed several dates for our Annual Club Chefs Outing which will be held at Metropolis Country Club. Proposed dates are : August 4,11, 25th Sept 8th and 29th . When we get a solid date I will email everybody.
Dan Neuroth spoke about our new membership brochure which he and Chef Max are working on, it will be ready for publication very soon and will be sent out to every club in Westchester County, we hope it will bring in a few new members to our association.
Andrew Howgego told us we are in a fairly healthy position financially and we have $15000 to spend on education this year.
We are in the process of planning a day trip to Stuart Family Farm in Bridgewater, CT which we hope will take place in September or October. It is an all natural USDA approved Beef Farm, producing great beef right in our area. They have also been recognized by the Animal Welfare Society for their humane treatment of the animals.
John Chevalier spoke to us about his recent incident involving the Noro Virus outbreak at Willow Ridge. John and his entire staff went through a very difficult situation but handled it very well and were even commended by the Health Department for their response to the incident. Sadly, the local media didn’t do them any favors with their reporting of the matter. I urge you all to take a little bit of time and devise a plan of action for your own club in case you ever have the misfortune of experiencing what John and his staff just experienced.
We are also planning on updating all of our Membership information. I will be emailing a new form to everybody to update their contact information. This form will also be sent out with our membership brochure so if you wish to fill it out in hard copy you may. We will also send out invoices for Dues in both electronic and paper form so hopefully it will help us gather more dues. Please feel free to email me with any updated contact information at lorcan@metropoliscc.org . Bronxville Field Club are hosting our September meeting, Willow Ridge will host October and John Krall will host us at Manursing Island Club in November. If you would like to host a meeting please email me and I would be happy to schedule it.
Finally, I would like to wish everybody a successful and productive summer season!!
I hope to see you in June.
Culinary Regards,
Lorcan
