March 2014 Newsletter

Dear Fellow Club Chefs,

I would like to thank Chef Jean Claude Torres and his great staff for a delicious dinner at The Century Association on Tuesday evening. Our Thanks also to General Manager Mr. Albert Brunner, for hosting our event.

The education for the evening was provided by M David Magnotta of Caviar Russe, we sampled several varieties of caviar and we were given a very informative presentation by David.

The outgoing Board of Governors passed on the mantle of leadership to the new board and we had a discussion about the upcoming Vendor Show on March 25th and also the upcoming Servsafe Certification class at Shenorock Shore Club on April 8th from 9am to 5pm. (This class is already full.)

Our new board is as follows:

Lorcan O’Connell – President

Dan Neuroth – Vice President

Andrew Howego – Treasurer

Austin Braswell – Secretary

We also asked members to think about possible destinations for our education trip next year. We would like to put it to a vote at our next meeting, this way we will have ample time not only to plan the trip but also it will give chefs plenty of time to discuss it with their respective managers.

Our next meeting will be a lunch meeting at Beach Point Club on April 15th. Please RSVP to Chef Max at mshteyman@gmail.com or 9146981600 ext 110.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Peter Haering, Blake Verity, Andrew Howego and Anibal Romero for their hard work, dedication and tireless effort over the past two years.

It is a great honor for me to be your new President, and with my fellow board members we hope our association will continue to grow and develop over the coming term.

I encourage all of our members to become more involved in our association and to encourage new members to come and join us and discover for themselves the benefit of belonging to the association.

Culinary Regards,

Lorcan O’Connell
