Dear Fellow Chefs,
October always seemed to be full of surprises. With all the unexpected parties and member business that came along with the great Indian summer, we start to prepare for the end of the year. Keeping our staff on their toes and motivated while not letting them fall into the “End of the summer Blues” makes for an exciting run to the finish.
The Piping Rock Club staff had no such let down at our October meeting. Chef Blake Verity and his staff put on a culinary show to a well attended meeting. Chef Blake and his Culinary Brigade’s creative interpretations of ingredients in our tasting menu led to picture taking and lively table conversations. I would like to thank Chef Blake, General Manager Andy Hauser, the staff and the Board of the Piping Rock Club for the great event.
Our education for the evening; “Career Building and Resume Workshop” by Charles Dorn of the Dorn Group was very interesting as well as entertaining. Charles provided us with a Power Point presentation that encompassed how to go about building your network in searching for a job, mistakes you should avoid in your resume and ended with how to effectively negotiate your compensation. Our half hour session turned into an hour without anybody noticing. (Excluding the kitchen of course)

Our next meeting will be hosted by Executive Chef John Krall and Austin Braswell of Manursing Island Club. The meeting will take place Tuesday November 16th. Cocktails will begin at 6:00pm followed by education, meeting and dinner.

The Club Chefs of Westchester and The Metropolitan Club Managers will again combine their Annual Holiday gatherings. It will take place at Leewood Golf Club on Monday December 13, 2010 @ 6:00 pm.
Invitations will be out in the next few weeks. Guests are welcome.
